Mackay’s Twilight market is set to bring something fun and family friendly to the community.
- Doors Open Saturday 4pm to 8:30pm (Mega Christmas Times – Friday 5pm to 8:30pm & Saturday 4pm to 8:30pm)
- Mackay Showgrounds Huge shed & Undercover area.
- Entry Fee – Adult $2.00 – Children 17 years & under Free.
- 100 plus stallholders and exhibitors.
- Lots of yummy food and drinks.
- Large Eating area.
- Activities for the kids.
Mackay Twilight Market was born in April 2021, after being contacted so many times by locals asking us to hold Twilight markets due to many local small businesses not having a twilight market, they could attend to sell their products and a whole in the market seen here in Mackay.
We held our first twilight in April 2021, with 62 businesses we only filled the undercover area of the big shed at the showgrounds, we had no idea the community would get behind the event like they did and after an overwhelming response we turned our second event into something not seen in Mackay for many years.
Our second event in July 2021 seen us fill both inside and the undercover area of the big shed with 98 local small businesses and food trucks alongside a seating area for customers to enjoy their food and listen to local musicians. Since than our twilight market continues to get bigger and bigger each event.
We welcome all styles of businesses to join us.
This event is not just a handmade only market or a babies & Kids market, it’s a market for every business to join.
From Handmade, to goods and services for all, Food Vendors, local artiest, Entertainment for all ages this market is a one stop event like no other in Mackay.
Mackay Twilight Market is for a range of business, from handmade, to goods and services for all, Food vendors, local artiest and Entertainment for all ages.
Light Towers are brought in for the carpark area to make it safer for all.
We have Jumping castles, face painting, balloon twisting, ATM’s, large food court style area alongside food vendors.
Mackay Twilight Market followers we wish to advise the following change as of April 2022.
We would just like to say we have enjoyed seeing customers being there much loved 4-legged friends to our market.
We do though need to address a few things that have come up after our last few markets.
Unfortunately, we had a few customers and Stallholders come to us with some concerns over how many dogs we have had at our last few markets and somewhere not being as friendly as we would have liked, even though they were on leads at all times.
Being we have such a large number of customers at our market and many young kids, we have made the decision to no longer freely and opening allow animals at our markets moving forward.
Our market is very busy at times with customers, and we need to take the safety and well-being of everyone into account.
This is not a decision we take lightly but we need to address it because we would really hate to see someone hurt by an animal that comes into our market that may just be overwhelmed by the number of people they are around or if a child walks up to them and the animal doesn’t like it.
A few of the things that played into our decision are.
1 – We have a lot of food/fresh food being served at the market.
2 – If your pet “even trained” needs to “use its bowels” urgently and someone steps in it by accident is a big hygiene issue.
3 – Some people are afraid of dogs (even little ones.) we don’t wish to have any of our customers feel unsafe at our market, let alone your pet to feel unsafe.
4 – Some people have allergies to animal hair, and we need to take this into consideration for the health and well-being of these customers.
We have pets of our own and understand it’s nice to take our much-loved family pet to things from time to time.
All we need is one person to make a formal complaint and we will have no choice but to ask you politely to remove your pet from the market.
As always assistance/ service dogs are always welcome.
